Mitsubishi's fastest ever order picker
December 2nd 2008

Mitsubishi says the top-spec 48 Volt OPBH10NH high performance model enables picking at heights up to 11.5 metres and delivers rapid lifting speeds. But for applications where such high and fast lifts aren’t necessary, there’s the 24 Volt OPBH10N model with DC lift. In every other respect, says the firm, both models share the same high specification with a particular focus on ergonomics.

An ergolift design, for example, sees the lifting mechanism located under the cabin floor, enabling the cabin wall to be made thinner, so that loads are easier to reach. The pallet lift will raise loads to a maximum height of 750 cm.

The design of the cabin’s side gates includes a smooth shape which is comfortable to lean against and a lightweight aluminium construction which makes them easy to open.

By splitting the control unit, load access is improved – and the risk of accidentally operating controls while leaning to reach the load reduced.

Other developments include joystick control, plus an inductive hand detector that won’t allow operation of the truck unless both hands are safely within the cabin. And it can’t be fooled: The detector responds only to flesh.

To meet the needs of the application, controls can be located on the fork side or the mast side and customers can choose from three chassis widths and four cabin widths.

Mitsubishi says its Visionmast gives operators clear forward vision when the truck is travelling with its forks trailing, and also ensures high residual capacities.

A PIN code starter pad linked to a new generation electronic control system allows engineers to programme a wide range of performance parameters via the truck’s own display screen – without connection to a laptop. There are also some changes that the operator is allowed to make.

Other standard features include AC drive, regenerative braking, high capacity batteries and battery change rollers. There are also options for particular applications, including wire or rail guidance, end of aisle braking and auto stop for obstacles and pedestrians.
