System to prevent sideloader damage
April 1st 2004

Six multi-direction sideloaders, built for window profile manufacturer WHS Halo by Sidetracker Engineering, include a safety system to prevent them moving sideways before the fork carriages are fully retracted.

As the trucks operate in aisles only 100mm wider than they are, WHS Halo wanted to reduce the potential for damage to products or racking caused by drivers travelling without the 1200mm forks fully retracted.

A logic circuit with mast position sensors stops the transmission working in the sideways direction unless the reach carriage is fully engaged.
