Safer handling aids highlighted at exhibition
April 1st 2004

At the recent IMHX Premier Pallet Systems stand had a particular emphasis on aids to safer handling.

The companys Type D 90 Tipper received particular interest from companies currently using a wide variety of dubious methods for downending reels of paper and steel. These methods ranged from overhead hoists to forklifts and even simple manpower pushing the reels over and jumping clear!

The Type D loads and discharges at floor level without the need to construct a pit and will handle weights of up to 1000kg. It is one of a range of four basic styles, all custom-built to suit size and weight capacity requirements for each application.

There was also considerable interest in the new Premstacker Box Dispenser. This machine is designed to eliminate manual handling of heavy collapsible plastic bins making it possible to stack them up to 12 high with a simple pallet truck. One visitor from the HSE was reported to be particularly impressed and took away information to pass on to a number of potentially interested parties.

Premier has recently added a floor-level Pallet Changer to its range of transfer devices and has already taken orders for a number of systems in pharmaceutical warehouses. The device allows for the exchange of pallets without any manual handling whatsoever.
