No risky high level movements
December 1st 2004

Alcoa Extruded Products has replaced 4-way electric reach trucks with Combilift multidirectional forklifts due to their versatility and ability to enhance safe working practices.

The Combilifts handle diverse load sizes, from almost square packs of billets in the initial stages of the extrusion process, and continue to manoeuvre product lengths from 2.5 to 14m as material is extruded, cut to length, aged, batched, packed, stored and loaded for delivery. The ability to do this while ensuring safe working practices at all times was a major factor in the decision to purchase the trucks. Each changeover to sideways travel means that risky high-level transportation is avoided, in line with Alcoa’s stipulations that nothing is lifted above head height.
