Safer when push comes to shove
April 1st 2005

Godwin Pumps has boosted productivity and improved staff safety with a new Super Pusher from Nu-Star.

Godwin manufactures industrial pumps for multiple industries. Its large HL130 and HL250 Dri Prime pump units can weigh up to 5800Kg and measure up to 4.2m x 2.1m. During the manufacturing process, the pumps have to be moved between several shop-floor locations – requiring up to eight people on the biggest pumps. “Not only was this unproductive, but it also represented a Health & Safety risk to our staff,” says Godwin’s assembly shop supervisor, Kevin Waldron.

“By using the Super Pusher one person is able to get the job done safely.” Nu-Star manufactures a range of electric tugs all specifically designed to eliminate the manual effort traditionally associated with moving heavy wheeled loads. Measuring 1.4m long and 760mm wide, the Super Pusher is its largest tug and has a 10mm steel chassis together with a 1.5Kw electric motor and integral differential.
