Loadhog brings home TNT bacon February 1st 2005 Loadhog is partnering with TNT Container Logistics, a leader in the hire and sale of reusable intermediate packaging and associated fleet management services.
Loadhog’s eponymous product is a robust plastic lid that secures loads to any wooden or plastic pallet, eliminating the need for disposable strapping and shrink wrap – reducing the associated costs for material, disposal and product damage. According to Loadhog, traditional disposable film and strapping annually wastes 222,000 tonnes of plastic film and strapping and 30 million man hours, at a cost of £400 million to the UK logistics industry.
The company claims Loadhog’s design provides greater security of loads during both stacking and transportation, and is safer and easier to use than conventional wrapping and strapping systems.
Retractable straps allow a single operator to secure a load in seconds with minimum effort – up to 140kg of tension can be delivered per strap without the need for bending or any risk of unstrapping cuts.
Because it is a flat lid, Loadhog enables safe double stacking up to 2.4m – a key factor in TNT’s decision to partner the Sheffield-based company. TNT Container Logistics managing director, Martin Thornhill explains: “Loadhog brings stability to loads which in the past have been impossible to double stack – improving truck utilisation and significantly reducing transport costs.
The launch of a Euro-pallet sized lid means we can extend these savings to our customers across mainland Europe.” More articles from Loadhog Ltd: |
