No more key security worries April 1st 2009
Drivers at Purcell Transport
used to return keys through
the letterbox at night,
causing security worries for
boss Gaynor Purcell. The
installation of a Traka key
management system has
solved the problem by
securing all keys in a
weatherproof Traka cabinet,
to which only authorised
personnel have access.
Traka provided an
electronic key cabinet, in
which keys are kept
attached to 'iFobs'. Each iFob
contains a chip, which gives
the key a unique electronic
ID, effectively electronically
tagging it and enabling each
user to be individually
audited.
Software records each
time the key cabinet is
accessed and by whom,
ensuring keys have been
taken by authorised staff
and placing full
accountability for both the
key and the vehicle with the
user. Access to the cabinet is
controlled by PIN number
and employees who leave
the company's employment
simply have their PIN
removed from the system.
Another benefit offered
by Traka's software is
confirmation of the hours
worked by staff, which has
provided Purcell with weekly
savings on its wage bill. More articles from Traka Plc: |
