Live warehouse builds skills June 1st 2010 Manchester-based learning centre shows how the latest technology can make a big
difference to a company's bottom line
Mantra Learning's £1m Logistics Research and Innovation
Centre - in association with pallet racking
manufacturer, Redirack - is designed to help train
warehouse managers. Based in Middleton, Greater Manchester,
LRIC hosts the Warehouse Technology Group and provides
learners with access to realistic learning scenarios.
The LRIC features a fully operational warehouse that can
accommodate 1,000 pallets and is filled to around 50% capacity
by live clients. Packed with the latest innovations supplied by
WTG members – some of the most prestigious names in
warehousing – LRIC offers very real learning benefits to
warehouse managers, providing insight into a new way of
working that improves the health and safety, efficiency,
productivity, and security of their operations, while enabling
them to reduce damage and operator errors.
In the logistics sector, where productivity is key LRIC
demonstrates to warehouse managers how intelligent systems can
increase efficiency. Three variations of the Redirack racking
system are showcased for learners to see in action, including a
dynamic system which enables access to products at the rear of
the space-efficient racking without having to move as many
pallets as is traditionally necessary.
Redirack md Phil Culling, says: "LRIC is an invaluable
resource for managers as its offers insights into how the latest
technology can actually make a big difference to a company's
bottom line. Experiencing the innovations in a working
environment drills home the benefits and allows staff to learn
about advances in the sector or brush up on their knowledge in
practical surroundings rather
than a sterile environment.'' More articles from Redirack Limited: |
