UKWA Awards for excellence in the 3PL sector August 1st 2008 The United Kingdom Warehousing
Association's (UKWA) ninth Annual
Awards for Warehousing ceremony
was recently held at the Dorchester Hotel in
London. The Association says this year saw
a record number of entries for the following
seven awards that were presented.
Best New Member: Michael Brannigan &
Son – an Irish road freight logistics service
provider. "An excellently maintained and
very well run warehouse," says Ken
Richards UKWA vice president.
Technology and Innovation: CEVA
Logistics – for its company wide
information system in 120 operational
bases delivering all analogue and digital
tachographs.
Training Award: The Bibby Academy – for
providing training for all staff from basic to
degree level education.
Warehouse Person of the Year: John
Tombs, iForce – for setting up a new
232,000ft2 John Lewis fulfilment centre
prior to Christmas.
Team of the Year: Simarco International –
a new pick and pack venture with 12 clients
achieved 100% accuracy on time.
Journalist of the Year: Peter Rowlands, e-
fulfilment magazine – his understanding of
the subject and the clarity of his writing
made him an outstanding candidate.
Chairman's Award: Andrew Malcolm,
chief executive, The Malcolm Group – UK
wide logistics services. Progressing from
repair workshops to chief executive, his
experience has covered every aspect of the
company.
Over 400 UKWA members and guests
attended the awards which were sponsored
by Jungheinrich. |
