Pallet handling over three floors December 1st 2007 Diamond Phoenix has delivered a
custom-built pallet handling system at
IKEA's Ashton warehouse. The vertical
transport system handles a broad
range of product sizes that are either
pallet or load ledge mounted across
three floors – from the loading area up
to and across two further store levels.
The system includes two vertical
lifts, a conveyor system based on a
robust modular belt design, plus
software and controls. The result is
that Ashton can now deliver 100-250
pallets in a six hour shift as opposed to
nine hours previously, resulting in
labour savings.
"From design to installation, the
process took just 32 weeks, which was
the quickest build time ever achieved
for IKEA globally," says IKEA UK Logistics
Expansion Coordinator, Iain Foss. More articles from Diamond Phoenix Ltd: |
