Automated customer ordering April 1st 2008 When Jewson IT needed a
solution to streamline its
customer product selection
and ordering process, it turned
to Spirit Data Capture.
Jewson had been
using PDT
computers but due
to wireless
technology
developments, the
decision was made
to upgrade. "We
needed
independent advice
finding a handled
unit that would
meet all of our
requirements,"
explains Russell Bower,
business services manager.
On Spirit's suggestion,
Jewson plumped for the
Motorola MC9090.
The device enables
customer ordering to be
completely automated.
Instead of customers touring
the yard selecting products
and then loading them into
a vehicle, the employee
scans the required product
and enters the purchase
onto a live order. When the
customer reaches the
counter it's there waiting.
The MC9090s are also used
for full stocktakes and
inventory checks.
"During the trial period,
Spirit helped with
configuration, security
standards and network
application compatibility,
and after choosing the
MC9090, they helped us
with the first phase of the
roll-out," continues Bower.
Motorola's Mobility
Services Platform (MSP) was
also installed to provide
central control for all mobile
applications and devices on
Jewson's network. Russell
adds, "I'm glad that we
engaged Spirit's help when
we did." He continues,
"Initial feedback has been
very positive. Users are
happy." More articles from Spirit Data Capture: |
