portable handheld camera
scanner from Vitronic. It
scans pallet and parcel
labels, and identifies
customer related data. It
enables individual items
to be traced and allows
quick, accurate routing of
parcels, improving
efficiency and reducing
manual handling
requirements.
"VICAM-mobile
captures high-resolution
images of labels within a
300mm x 300mm area,
and automatically
identifies the relevant
data, interpreting it using
optical character
recognition (OCR)
techniques," explains
Malcolm Smith, UK sales
manager. "Unlike
traditional handheld laser
scanners, it reads
damaged or incomplete
barcodes, supplier
numbers and handwritten
