Inserting an update for field service
August 1st 2008 Insert is a French outdoor
media specialist, producing
a range of advertising
solutions. The majority of its
600 employees operate in
the field putting up and
maintaining over 100,000
outdoor advertising sights
throughout France.
The company had been
using the same PDAs since
2000 and, according to
Insert's IT manager, Pierre
Dupaya, the units had
become "intrinsically
obsolete". Insert were
introduced to the Psion
Teklogix iKôn PDA. The iKôn
enables a host of advanced
mobile applications to be
carried out from a single
unit.
Insert has now equipped
all of its field service
personnel with iKôns. Over
400 units were acquired.
The iKôn has WiFi
connectivity, a two megapixel
digital colour camera
function, GPS, an imager
with barcode reader and
features a 5,000-mAh
