Light yet tough PDA packs punch
June 1st 2007

Now available from DED, the Metrologic OptimusPDA is said to be one of the lightest, toughest and most feature rich PDAs.

Easy and comfortable to use, the OptimusPDA is little bigger than a mobile phone. With a Microsoft Windows CE5.0 operating system, the OptimusPDA is suitable for applications throughout the supply chain in retail, postal home delivery as well as industrial applications.

Based on a powerful Intel PXA270 520Mhz processor with 128Mb and 3.5" colour TFT touchscreen, the OptimusPDA features a MiniSD slot for memory expansion and a powerful Liion battery pack that lasts for up to 72 hours on a single charge. With a durability rating of IP54 and a 1.5m drop specification, the company say the PDA brings versatility to the harshest of indoor and outdoor workplace environments, being designed specifically for applications where temperature varies according to the season. The unit is offered with either laser or CMOS imaging scan engines for 1D or 2D bar code data collection and can be configured with multiple memory options, ensuring that the unit can cope with the most demanding of applications. The device also features a two Megapixel camera and a large backlit keyboard.
