the company bills as an 'ultra rugged
lightweight mobile computer'.
The spec: Option of Windows Mobile 6.1
or 5.0; VGA hi -res LCD; Multi-mode radio
(3G+, 802.11 a/b/g, Bluetooth), GPS. It also
has a replacement keypad and scanner (either
in 1D or 2D long range).
Memory: 128MB RAM and ROM (with
up to another 1GB ROM optional)
Toughness: IP65 rated, it has a drop test
rating of 1.8m to concrete.
What they say: "It's a fully featured rugged
mobile computer with a colour camera,
multiple data capture options and two keyboard options that
can be replaced by the user," says Spirit MD, Ebbie Khadem "A
strong drop test rating means it can take the knocks and an
optional pistol grip makes it handier for warehousing
operations." For those looking to minimise capital
expenditure, there's a leasing option available.
Spirit's other contribution to the roundup is
the versatile gotive SQ31, an ergonic
communicator with barcode reader. Billed as
'rugged with style' with 'added emotional value'
(whatever that means), the firm says it fits any
hand, and any environment – 'from dusty
