Tough handheld terminals December 1st 2004 Kendata Peripherals has helped vehicle manufacturer LDV speed up data collection in the small parts store at its Birmingham plant using Dolphin handheld terminals.
LDV operates a two-bin system for many of the smaller parts that feed into its trim and final assembly line. It previously used handwritten and keyboard data entry methods for controlling movements in and out of stores.
Recognising the time and efficiency benefits of barcode technology, it invested in Dolphin data collection terminals. The rugged units are designed for single-handed operation and have integral laser barcode scanner, infrared communications,easy-to-read 8-line, 20-character display and choice of keypad layout. Units are tested to withstand 5ft drops. |
