Rugged RF hardware system
February 1st 2006 Paper manufacturer and recycler, St Regis, has completed a new build warehouse facility to provide an additional 13,000m2, housing 20,000t of finished product.
Sandpiper was selected to review the current processes and recommend a new RF system for the inventory management used by St Regis' engineering stores operation and for the new warehouse.
The hardware solution supplied by Sandpiper comprises Intermec rugged handheld computers running Citrix ICA client software, barcode printers and vehicle mounted terminals. Real time communication with the Matrix system was achieved using Intermec 802.11b spread spectrum wireless technology. This provides the necessary coverage, system performance and in-built future migration path that will allow St. Regis to take advantage of future advances in technology.
