Manhattan helps Conair fly
February 1st 2005 BaByliss, a brand of kitchen to hair care appliances manufacturer, Conair, has gone live with a new warehouse management solution at its 100,000 sq ft European DC at Iwuy, Northern France.
The DC handles 50,000- plus multiple order consignments each year.
With BaByliss’ European business expanding during the last few years, the Iwuy warehouse outgrew its original ERP system and the overhaul includes several core but complementary technologies including SAP’s ERP system, Manhattan Associates’ Warehouse Management for iSeries solution and Psion Teklogix’s RF technology.
As of this year, BaByliss’ transportation partners have a direct link into the system, enabling BaByliss to: - Transfer order information to carriers via EDI
- Automatically generate carrier-specific bar code labels allowing carriers to track orders at carton level and send back status updates
- Determine transport costs by using a ‘freight rate’ engine to calculate freight costs before goods leave the DC
