Ultra-fast easy fit RFID modules August 1st 2008 TOSHIBA TEC Europe has
released its ultra-fast RFID
modules for Auto ID label
printers. The new modules
can be easily fitted into any
of TOSHIBA TEC's current
range of RFID ready printers.
TOSHIBA TEC creates its
technology solutions inhouse.
One example is the
UHF RFID modules which
operate under EPC Gen 2
UHF technology standards.
Business benefits include
global operability, optimised
performance in different
regulatory environments,
read/write field
programmability, faster tag
read/write rates, operability
in dense reader
environments and migration
to future EPC classes. In
addition to the standard
RFID characteristics,
TOSHIBA TEC has added two
new
innovations,
Gray Area
Detection and
SPRiNT Gen 2
Printing.
RFID tags
that operate
well in a
printing
environment
may not be able
to maintain a high level of
performance throughout the
whole supply chain. Gray
Area Detection (Patent
pending) measures the
reflected power of the tag
and ensures that only tags
that meet the set
requirements will be
programmed.
If the reflected power
output of the RFID tag is too
low to be reliably detected
by RFID readers, the printer
treats such tags as void and
marks them as nonfunctioning,
helping to
decrease the field error rate
in a live situation. TOSHIBA
TEC developed its Short
Pitch RFID Encoding
Technology (SPRiNT) in
2005 and is now launching
the next generation. More articles from Toshiba TEC Europe Retail Information Systems: |
