Putting the fizz in Coca-Cola's labelling June 1st 2006 Provider of coding and marking systems, Markem, has created a fizz at Coca- Cola Enterprises, after improving labelling efficiency on the soft drinks manufacturer's production lines.
The packaging team at Coca-Cola Enterprises approached Markem with a brief to improve accuracy and increase the speed of labelling of PET bottles, having previously used the manufacturer's equipment and been impressed with its reliability.
Markem's solution was to install two Cimjets on each of the production lines which work in tandem to apply labels to the side of packs of four and six 1 litre and 2 litre bottles. This system reaches higher speeds and prevents delays of the production line if rolls of labels need replacing.
The tandem Cimjet system applies labels to the side of packs of four or six one or two litre bottles. A Cimpak then labels the pallets.
Cimpaks, which label the pallets of the shrink wrapped bottles, have also been installed at Edmonton and Wakefield sites, where the system was first trialled. The Cimjets and the Cimpaks are networked to Coca-Cola Enterprises' on-site warehousing system, enabling the recording of precise data for traceability. More articles from Markem Systems Ltd: |
