Rfid system gives power to the operator December 1st 2009 Germany bakery firm Stadtbäckerei
Junge is benefiting from a
Jungheinrich RFID-based solution
at is cold store distribution centre.
With this system, the forklift
operator – not the warehouse
management system – decides the
storage location of each palletised
load within the warehouse.
An RFID reader is mounted on
the fork carriage of a Jungheinrich
ETV 214 reach truck, which is also
equipped with a wireless PC and a
barcode scanner for identifying
the pallet IDs. Transponders are
positioned on each pallet
location in the store, while for
ground-level storage positions
the transponders were fixed to
the floor.
Goods to be stored are
tagged in the goods-in
department with a slip
containing article information and a
barcoded ID number.When the
pallet ID is scanned, the article is
logged into the WMS then brought
to the warehouse using the reach
truck. In the warehouse the forklift
operator only needs to find the first
available storage location.While the
pallet is being stored, the reader
reads the transponder, matching the
pallet ID to the storage location. More articles from Jungheinrich UK Ltd: |
