Helps cut congestion costs April 1st 2006 Managing director of mapping and routing software specialist, MAP&GUIDE, Ernest McCutcheon has predicted a sharp increase in the volume of international sales as traffic density increases and businesses get serious about cutting down the amount of time their lorries or sales teams spend on the road.
Addressing the MAP&GUIDE Mapware Conference in Karlsruhe, Germany, he said that he saw the UK in particular as an area for new activity. "It is estimated that 25% of all main roads in Britain are jammed for at least an hour a day - this is even more than in Germany where the figure is 10%.
"In fact, the Confederation of British Industry has estimated that traffic jams cost British industry £15 million a year.
Using the latest travel planners, fleet and haulage managers can begin to help minimise this by better route planning, real time traffic reports and automatic rerouting." |
