One scanner protects four field pairs October 1st 2004 Simplifying installation and programming, Leuze Maysers new Rotoscan RS4-4 laser scanner features an integrated AS-i interface. Another key benefit of this programmable area scanning safety device is that four paris of fields can be programmed and selected during operation. This means applications requiring variable protected fields can be fulfiled economically using just one unit.
Through PC software, the RS4-4 allows the user to create four independent warning fields and four associated safety fields, covering a distance up to 15m for the warning field and 4m for the safety field, monitoring over a 190 horizontal sweep area.
When the transmitted signal encounters an object or person, the returned signal is then compared to the transmitted signal, the difference in time being directly related to the distance from the scanner. Any object detected within the warning zone will initiate an alert in the case of a shuttle car the reaction is usually to reduce speed. When an object is detected in the safety protection field, a signal is generated causing all dangerous machine movements to be brought to a halt, or stopping the movement of an automated vehicle.
Of compact design, according to the company the RS4-4 offers the standard of precision that
has come to be expected of all Leuze Mayser's scanners and sensors. More articles from Leuze Mayser Electronic Limited: |
