Retailer adopts Workforce Management Solution February 1st 2007 RedPrairie has announced that the UK retailer of value books, crafts and gifts, The Works, has selected its Workforce Management (WFM) solution to optimise labour management at its Sutton Coldfield distribution centre. RedPrairie's solution enables organisations to increase productivity, optimise resources and reduce supply chain costs. Its flexible, webbased reporting tool provides real-time performance monitoring to proactively address potential problems before they disrupt the operation. With the resource planning and scheduling function, managers are able to confidently staff the warehouse to optimise resource utilisation. The WFM programme will provide The Works with a tool to improve service levels and operational efficiency as well as employee morale. Cost savings will be realised through the establishment of preferred work methods and accurate expectations for work tasks, taking into account actual travel distances, product characteristics and environmental factors, and a comprehensive training approach that creates a performance focused workforce. Chief Executive Chris Maddox commented, "The RedPrairie solution totally supports our culture of continuous improvement, where we all work together to create a more efficient and effective supply chain."
