Wholesale savings with voice and ePOD April 1st 2009 Zetes has implemented a
new voice picking solution
at Hendersons Wholesale's
fresh foods distribution
centre, with more
implementations to follow.
In addition, Zetes has
integrated an ePOD
(electronic proof of delivery)
solution onto Hendersons'
WMS system giving the
company full 'shelf-to-shelfedge
traceability' in its
ambient warehouse with
dramatically improved stock
and asset management.
Hendersons selected
Zetes as a supply chain
integration partner in 2006
when integrating voice
picking into its ambient
warehouse. As a result of
the immediate business
payback seen the company
made a strategic decision to
migrate to voice picking in
all three distribution centres,
working in partnership with
Zetes to perform each
integration in turn
With the addition of ePOD
into the ambient
warehouse, Hendersons has
achieved a 50% reduction in
shrinkage as a result of
better asset and stock
traceability. "In monetary
terms this has equated to a
£125,000 saving from better
stock management and an
additional £50,000 saved
through improved asset
tracking of roller cages,
which illustrates the very
rapid investment returns
achievable with such
systems," says Pat McGarry,
logistics director at
Hendersons.
According to the
company: errors now occur
in around 1 in 10,000 cases
whereas in the past the
frequency was 10 times
higher; productivity
improvements of around
15% have been achieved;
training times have been
halved and health and safety
improved - as operators can
work with hands and eyes
free in a more comfortable
manner. More articles from Zetes: |
