Off the shelf WMS reduces costs December 1st 2004 When snack food supplier, Westler, decided to take is warehousing and distribution in-house, it needed an off the shelf management system to reduce warehouse and transport costs, as well as improve customer service levels.
The warehouse management system had to cater for the product range – all ambient foodstuffs, but with varied use-by-dates. The system also needed to provide quality control and ‘positive release’ on food batches after the production phase.
On its consultant’s recommendation, Westler opted to install the ATMS FastTrack warehouse management system with RF terminals for production receipt and finished goods control.
‘Westler Foods is now able to handle 100 pallets per day at a substantially lower cost, yet with significantly improved service levels to customers,’ said Charlie Breese, warehouse and distribution manager. More articles from ATMS Limited: |
