WMS freezes returns and costs February 1st 2005 A French frozen food supplier says it has increased efficiency and reduced costs since implementing a RedPrairie DLx Dispatcher WMS.
Part of the Nestlé group, Davigel stores around 150,000 tons of frozen foods per year. With Europe’s General Food Law (enforcing strict traceability) now in force, Davigel’s Dieppe warehouse was among the first to meet the regulations – and the technology is being expanded to five more sites across France this year.
The system has increased traceability and accuracy of stored food items by monitoring the expiry dates and batch numbers of each pallet – and directing stock accordingly. Paper-based picking has been introduced and voice picking is being tested. Davigel logistics director, Bernard Blaizel, says the increased picking accuracy means “reduced returns, lower costs and higher customer satisfaction”. More articles from RedPrairie Ltd: |
