Aisles trimmed at fitness warehouse June 1st 2007 Rapid expansion at Ireland's
Elverys Sports over the last
few years has led to a need
for more storage space at the
company's central
distribution warehousing
operation. By using an Aisle-
Master articulated forklift
instead of a previous
combination of
counterbalance and reach
truck, Elverys say it has
almost doubled the amount
of pallet spaces it can fit into
its second warehouse on the
site. Aisle widths have been
reduced to 1.9m, the 10.5
mast allows use of all vertical
space and the total number
of pallet spaces is 850.
"It is amazing to think of
the benefits you can achieve
just by choosing a different
forklift," says warehouse
manager Ian Place.
The two tonne capacity is
more than enough to cope
with the loads – the heaviest
pallets are those containing
treadmills which weigh
around 1 tonne.
The company say that the
truck's robust construction,
with excellent visibility from
the cab, along with
adjustable steering column
and lack of rear end swing
when manoeuvring all
contribute to a safer and
more comfortable working
environment for operators.
Aisle-Masters can work in
aisles of 1.75m, with
capacities to two tonnes and
lift heights of up to 11.5
metres. Electric and LPG
power is available. More articles from Aisle-Master Ltd: |
