Aisle-Master articulated
forklifts at its National
Distribution Centre in
Walsall. Previously the
company had used mainly
reach trucks in the 40,000ft2
warehouse, but growth in
demand and changes to
product lines prompted
planning and logistics
manager Nick Gliddon to
look for a different
approach.
The first Aisle-Master was
delivered in November 2007
enabling major operational
changes due to the truck's
ability to work inside and
out and in much tighter
aisles than the reach trucks.
The company ordered
two more electric trucks
with 7.6m masts and Aisle-
Master supplied two interim
hire vehicles. "We have
reconfigured the racking
layout, and have got rid of
the cumbersome double
deep system, so stock
location is much easier and
quicker. We have also been
able to remove higher level
pick faces from aisles and
introduce more lower level
ones which are safer for
operators to work from,"
says Gliddon. More articles from Aisle-Master Ltd: |
