Articulated truck 'doubles pallet storage' August 1st 2007 Reorganising its warehouse
storage around the
articulating Bendi forklift,
Online Packaging thinks it
can now store twice as
many pallets than previously
possible.
Rising contract sizes
convinced Online to change
from block stacking to aislebased
adjustable pallet
racking which allows instant
100% stock accessibility.
Space saving however, was
still a key necessity for the
2,500 pallet store so storage
aisles had to be at a
minimum.
Put off by the cost of
dedicated VNA
requirements, the company
opted for the B318 threewheeler
Bendi, which works
comfortably in 1.6m wide
aisles and lift 800kg to 9m.
Smaller aisle widths and
better use of height leads
Online's warehouse manager
to believe it can now store
twice as many pallets
While the company still
uses a counterbalance for
lorry unloading, double
handling can be eliminated
when Online switches to
paperless warehousing with
barcodes and readers as the
Bendi can go straight from
lorry unloading to racking
put away.
