Storage space doubled April 1st 2008 Respirex, manufacturer of
personal and respiratory
protection equipment has
improved warehousing and
handling procedures with an
Aisle-Master articulated
forklift. Replacing a reach
truck, the Aisle-Master has
enabled the company to
almost double the amount it
can store at its Redhill site.
A growth in demand for
Respirex products prompted
a more rationalised approach
to the handling and storage
of materials.
Initially a reach truck/wide
aisle combination was
chosen for the 5000ft2
warehouse, where 60% of
space was for pallet storage,
with two aisles and four sets
of racking. A mezzanine
takes the other 40% for small
part storage. The company
realised more space would
soon be needed unless an
alternative solution was
found.
This came in the form of
the articulated Aisle-Master.
Aisle widths were cut so that
twice the number of aisles
and racks could be
incorporated in the same
area. Racking to a height of
7.8m enables all vertical
space to be used, and the 2t
capacity electric truck has a
camera fitted to assist
picking from the top racks.
The truck can also be used
for offloading deliveries in
the yard. More articles from Aisle-Master Ltd: |
