Clamping down on strong building blocks August 1st 2008 Two Kaup sideshifting block
clamps are handling Durisol's
recycled building blocks at its
new manufacturing plant in
Crumlin, South Wales. The
clamps were supplied
through B&B Attachments.
Durisol UK manufactures
reinforced wall formwork
systems made from Durisol,
a cement bonded wood fibre
material, which uses
recycled wood from postindustrial
sources.
Wall form units are
interlocking modular blocks,
dry stacked without mortar
and filled with concrete and
reinforcing steel to
create a strong
construction. Fitted to
two Caterpillar 3000kg
trucks, the block clamps
are used to gently lift
the wall form units and
take them to the
storage area after they have
been left on the floor to
solidify for 24 hours,then
three days later to move
them to the trimmer to be
cut and wrapped ready for
distribution.
"Our Austrian factory has
successfully used Kaup block
clamps for 15 years and
recommended them to us,"
says Derek Atkins, operations
director at Durisol UK. "We
are delighted with both the
performance of the block
clamps and the service
provided by B&B
Attachments." More articles from B & B Attachments: |
