All charged up and ready April 1st 2008 The battery charge and
change area at Halford's
Redditch national distribution
centre, used to park and
charge up to 70 pieces of
materials handling
equipment overnight, has
been reduced by over 75%
after the introduction of
EnerSys Motive Power
equipment, reports Enersys
Hawker.
Enersys and Halfords
worked together to design a
new space saving area by
arranging battery positions
close together along both
sides of a narrow aisle with
their respective chargers
mounted overhead. The
'intelligent' diagnostic
capabilities of power sources
ensure strict battery rotation,
so the most charged unit is
always used.
The batteries are handled
by Enersys' Hawker ProSeries
BBH semi-automated change
cart which eliminates manual
handling. Computerised
management requires fewer
batteries and Halfords' truck
fleet now operates with 1.7
batteries per truck. More articles from Enersys Motive Power: |
