Bus bars save charging time
August 1st 2004 Bibby Distribution has installed seven Atlet DCR Omni man-up stacker/ pickers at its high-throughput distribution centre in Oxfordshire. To ensure maximum uptime Atlet has installed inductive power transfer rails (bus bars) in the racking to eliminate battery charging. Bibby estimates this has increased productivity by more than 25%.
The system also eliminates the need for a space-consuming and costly battery charging area.
The DCR Omnis each handle more than 25 pallets per hour in contrast with the previous trucks, which handled just 20. Each unit has PIN code access via an onboard computer, which has also been programmed in accordance with driver competence. More articles from Atlet Limited: |
