Teletruk from JCB differs from traditional counterbalanced forklifts in that, instead of the usual vertical mast, it is equipped with a telescopic boom.

The best way to separate forklifts from pedestrians is to segregate them completely. The Teletruk can help achieve this thanks to its forward reach ability, allowing a trailor or train to be loaded/offloaded from one side only. This feature means the risk of an accident in a busy factory yard – or other application where space is restricted – is drastically reduced.

If lift trucks have to travel to both sides of a lorry to pick up and put away a load they have a blind spot every time they negotiate a manoeuvre that entails passing the front or rear of the vehicle. This brings a greater chance of accidents involving not only other trucks but also pedestrians. With traditional masted counterbalanced forklift trucks, forward visibility can be compromised due to the mast in front of the driver, particularly if it is a two or three stage mast.

With its telescopic boom mounted to the side, the JCB Teletruk has a clear forward view.
