Pizza cake with cargo counterbalance
April 1st 2007

When Pizza Express looked to improve its loading bay and bakery handling process, it turned to BT for help.

"We were unhappy with the current process," says Ed Vazquez, of Pizza Express.

"With increasing demands and tighter turnarounds we were finding it difficult to keep pace." With a turnaround of six lorry loads a day and more than 780,000 dough balls being shipped each week they wanted to create a smooth process whereby the goods were taken rom the cold store unit and transported, in one movement, onto the delivery truck. A truck that could manoeuvre efficiently within a compact cold store and fit within the delivery truck was needed.

The answer was the BT Cargo counterbalance 1.5t truck. With its three wheel design it can manoeuvre with ease within small enclosed spaces, and is durable enough to withstand extreme conditions found in cold stores.
