Raising the roof with Combilifts April 1st 2004 When Hathaway Roofing was awarded a contract by The British Airports Authority to design, supply and install roofing for Heathrows Terminal 5, it brought in two multi-directional forklifts from Combilift to handle materials used on the dedicated production line.
The 4t capacity, diesel trucks ability to handle lengths of cold rolled members and pressed sections, as well as finished roof panels measuring 3 by 6m, has enabled Hathaway to house the complete production of the project in the purpose built T5 extension, which has an area of just over 1000m2.
Without the sideways capability of the trucks, a far costlier extension with large areas of redundant space would have been needed. Narrow aisles in the new building ensure all three production lines are accommodated. The trucks also eliminate double handling. More articles from Combilift Limited: |
