Safe truck made safer
April 1st 2008

Combining Toyota Material Handling's System of Active Stability (SAS), operator presence sensing and enhanced operator visibility, the new Tonero enginepowered forklift offers high levels of safety without compromising productivity.

The SAS actively works with the driver to keep the truck stable and operating within safe parameters.

Toyota says that there have been no fatalities from lateral tip-overs in trucks protected by SAS, despite a combined operating time of more than 400 million hours.

The truck's instrument panel and overhead guard have been redesigned to give the operator a clear view when forks are at ground level, lorry bed height and at maximum height. In addition, the Tonero has a wide mast channel to further improve visibility for the operator.

Customers can opt for an additional safety technology package. The Tonero Safety+ formula offers a travel control system with a load weight indicator and speed limiter to ensure that drivers stay within site driving speeds. Technology further helps reduce potentially dangerous situations, monitoring speed and acceleration when the truck senses a load is at height.
