Saves 3000 hours per year December 1st 2004 Danish company, Arla Foods has installed a new driverless truck from BT. It has been calculated that the unit will save 3000 working hours per year, paying for itself in less than two years.
The first truck was installed in Arlas dairy in the finished product warehouse in December 2003. It handles approximately 1200 pallets per week.
The laser guided unit uses reflective panels attached to the surrounding walls. These are much easier to move than the floor
wires used by conventional driverless trucks and enable new routes and pick up points to be easily established. More articles from Toyota Material Handling (UK) Ltd: |
