Investment in STR fleet June 1st 2011 Briggs Equipment has invested £5.5m
in its short-term rental (STR) fleet as
part of a £20m plan to become the
UK's leading distributor of Yale
Materials Handling equipment.
The new STR fleet of 450 Yale
machines covers counterbalance
trucks, order pickers, power pallet
trucks and reach trucks, taking the
total Yale product range to over 900
with an average age of below 18
months. All the trucks reflect the
latest specifications from Yale, to
provide customers with optimum
efficiency and flexibility.
Allan Parsons, asset manager at
Briggs Equipment, says: "STR fleets
are usually made up of very old
equipment which come with high
maintenance and repair costs. Our
machines are virtually new which will
see fewer breakdowns and will keep
service costs to a minimum."
All the trucks are highly specified
with various modifications including
special transmissions, oil cool disc
brakes, numerous engine sizes, monitoring
systems and speed limiters to
ensure optimum safety and comfort.
"STR users often have difficulty in
finding the right truck to fit their
specific operation; which can pose a
real threat to health and safety. With a
wide variety of modifications
available on our machines, we can
provide flexible short-term solutions
to fit many different applications,"
says Parsons.
Currently, Briggs' STR fleet is 30%
Yale and in the next six months it
hopes to increase this to 55% making
a total of 1200 machines. More articles from Briggs Equipment UK Ltd: |
