Is your Safe Site a winner? September 1st 2011 The Fork Lift Truck Association's Safe Site Award rewards companies that have made real improvements in materials handling safety.Could your site be a winner?
Literally every day, workers in the UK are hospitalised –
or worse – in accidents involving fork lift trucks. The
situation has improved in recent years, but much
more needs to be done.
To recognise and reward companies who take safety
seriously – and encourage others to follow their example –
the Fork Lift Truck Association introduced a special "Safe
Site" category to its prestigious, annual Awards for
Excellence. Entries for the 2012 Safe Site Award are
open NOW.
Literally any UK site can enter, as long as it
has taken steps to make the operation of
fork lift trucks safer.
This might include:
A site redesign or
modification.
Introduction of better
practices.
Improved operating procedures.
A comprehensive new training
scheme.
Or something else altogether.
Previous winners have included an aluminium plant, a
nuclear power station, and even a famous London
vegetable market. Each of them demonstrated a clear
commitment to safety, embracing best practice for their
fork lift truck operations, in the face of some significant
challenges… and were rewarded with the most coveted prize
in the materials handling industry: the FLTA's famous Archie.
FLTA chief executive David Ellison says: "Don't be put off if
you only have a few fork lift trucks, or even just one. This
award is potentially for any company, large or small.
"The 2012 Awards will be presented at Birmingham's Hilton
Metropole on February 18th, in front of all the industry's leading
names… and the star of the show could be you."
