Still electric trucks even safer February 1st 2006 Further increasing the safety of its electric RX 20, RX 50 and RX 60 trucks, Still has developed ATC (Assistance Truck Control). This package of components supports the driver in the safe, efficient handling of the truck.
Modules in the ATC package include: seat belt monitoring, steering angle controlled speed reduction and a parking brake release warning.
The seat belt monitoring allows order picking at low speeds without fastening the seat belt. A switch in the lock of the belt detects whether the belt is fastened or not. If the safety belt is not locked, the maximum speed is automatically reduced. A well as enhancing safety, this increases efficiency as the driver can leave and mount the truck quickly when the belt is not fastened.
Through the speed being controlled according to the the steering angle, the driver is aided in making full use of the potential of the truck, resulting in increased performance.
The speed reduction is individually set for each truck type and was determined by extensive testing. Also, during travel through curves without load, the stability of the truck is ensured. This means that even untrained drivers benefit from this feature.
With the safe parking feature, a contact switch in the seat detects the driver leaving the truck and sets off a visual or acoustic signal if the parking brake is not set.
