Warning that more FLT training is needed August 1st 2006 According to HFT Forklifts, the recent HSE recommendation that forklift drivers should hold a Road Transport Industry Training Board (RTITB) certificate means employers could be regarded as negligent in the event of an accident.
To prevent this from happening, HFT Forklifts runs regular training courses at its dedicated training centre in Hereford.
"Health and safety regulations are becoming increasingly stringent," said HFT's health and safety training manager, Arthur Hossack.
"This latest regulation means employers must be able to demonstrate that their operators have been trained to an acceptable level, otherwise they could well be negligent in the event of anything going wrong.
"The ability of staff and employers to make onsite risk assessments is another integral part of health and safety standards and this can be taught through the correct training course," he added.
Up to five practical training courses can be held simultaneously at the HFT training centre, which has two lecture rooms and a rough terrain driving area. |
