Reducing costs and hazards April 1st 2007 Considerable savings have been calculated, following the installation of Davis Derby's fork lift truck monitoring and control system, at distributor of heating and plumbing products, Wolseley's 220,000sq/f Distribution Centre (DC) in Melmerby, North Yorkshire. "'A year ago, I identified areas of our fleet, in particular the Kombi trucks, where savings could be made if we could implement a better control system. That's where our relationship with Davis Derby began', explains Paul Gray, of Melmerby. "After having the system now for almost a year a cost analysis has been carried out which looked at operating costs in the eight months before and eight months after the system was installed. This showed a 22% reduction in operating costs as well as reduced infrastructure damage to racking and barriers." "Davis Derby's Smart Card Access and Shock Sensing modules and its TruckLOG data reporting suite is doing what I wanted it to do," adds Paul. "It's given me the information I didn't have before, got operating costs down and raised driving awareness throughout the unit," adds Paul. More articles from Davis Derby Limited: |
