Reducing forklift costs and cutting fuel emissions August 1st 2008 What if companies were
given the opportunity to
reduce the cost of their
forklift trucks and help save
the environment without
replacing their existing fleets
or vehicles? Paul Sercombe,
sales director of Transmon
Engineering explains how.
Forklift truck drivers often
leave engines running when
they dismount to carry out
quick tasks, talk to a
colleague, or are simply left
waiting. As most lift truck
rental contracts are based on
operational hours which
clock up while the engine is
running, engines left idling
add to unnecessary rental
and fuel costs and
subsequent emissions. The
increased wear can also
result in downtime.
By cutting the power to
trucks left idling for a given
time period, a company can
reduce cost and help reduce
engine emissions.
The Power Savure is a
small device developed by
Transmon and can be fitted
in just a few hours helping to
reduce the truck's recorded
hours to hours actually used
in operation.
It is an engine shutdown
system specifically designed
for diesel and LPG forklift
trucks. When the Power
Savure is fitted, the engine
automatically cuts out after
1, 2, 4 or 8 minutes after the
operator has dismounted
(adjustable according to the
truck's application).
For companies looking to
do their bit for the
environment, it also helps to
eliminate unnecessary
emissions from fuel that is
daily increasing in cost. More articles from Transmon Engineering Ltd: |
