Combilift flexibility is sign of the times
February 1st 2009

One of the UK's largest sign manufacturers, Astley Signs, was one of the first UK companies to opt for a relatively new Combilift product – a stand-on ST model with a 2.5t capacity.

Investment in the unit is reported to have significantly improved the handling of raw materials and finished products at its Gateshead HQ and manufacturing facility.

The company had been using an extremely old forklift and was experiencing a lack of spare parts that made routine maintenance practically impossible.

Additionally, the 1t capacity was limiting, and its inability to work outside was hampering streamlined operations.

John Brown of Briggs Equipment and Combilift's Don Houghton both recommended the Combilift ST model, as its compact dimensions enable work in aisle widths of just 1.7m, meaning that any existing racking did not need to be reconfigured. The ST bears the hallmarks of other Combilift models as it is a 3- wheel, all-wheel drive, 4-way truck offering high levels of manoeuvrability in confined spaces. Larger tyres also enable indoor and outdoor operation for all round versatility.
