handling procedures and
opened up new business
opportunities for Rotherhambased
Quality Heat
Treatment (QHT), which
specialises in furnace heat
treatment for castings,
forgings and fabrications.
QHT's business involves
handling very heavy, at times
extremely hot, and
potentially hazardous loads
around the site in close
proximity to personnel and
other vehicles. Safe handling
with good driver visibility
whatever the length of the
load is therefore a major
issue for engineering director
Paul Mattock. The company
had previously used a
counterbalance forklift, but
found its manoeuvrability
somewhat restricted and its
and long load handling
capabilities limited
Keen to expand the
business, Mattock looked
into alternative forklifts and
realised that the 4-way ability
of the Combilift range would
enable the company to take
on much longer loads. "We
had always shied away from
treating 6.5m long bars, but
the 4-way ability of the
Combilift now enables us to
provide this service for our
customers as we can easily
get these through the 3m
wide doorway to the
