Combilift raising the barriers
April 1st 2006

Barrier unit supplier, Hardstaff Group has recently acquired a Combilift 4-way forklift to handle its heaviest product - the Maxibloc concrete barrier, which weighs 4.5t.

Bigger forklifts had been tried, but they suffered from restricted manoeuvrability, particularly in the limited spaces sometimes encountered when installing.

Most Combilifts tend to work in the one location, even if they handle a variety of product, but Hardstaff's 5- tonne diesel model gets to go out and about across the country day and night, travelling on a low loader. It is also kitted out with extra lights and other speciallydesigned adaptations.

The ability to travel sideways has proved to be a much quicker and safer system than that previously employed, allowing the Combilift to operate in a space measuring little more than its overall length. Fourway capability also obviates the need for elevated travel with what is potentially a very hazardous load.

The truck's ability to work on semi-rough terrain and in all weathers guarantees uninterrupted operation to keep pace with Hardstaff's round the clock schedules.
