I'm a lumber truck and I'm 4-way June 1st 2008 Convoys Complete Cargo
Care has reconfigured one of
its timber storage areas at its
Chatham Dock terminal to
work with the capabilities of
five Combilift 4-way forklifts.
The company handles forest
products and brought in the
Combilifts after calculations
by technical director David
Rhodes showed they would
achieve a 30% increase in
stock capacity. "Combilifts are
extremely manoeuvrable and
can block stack, unlike
sideloaders, giving us much
improved storage density
when free stacking to a
height of four packs of
timber," says Rhodes. Aisle
widths could be cut from 7m
to 3.25m, still allowing the
longest 6.2m length packs to
be easily manoeuvred.
The relatively new
C5000L, the so called
'Lumber Truck' was the ideal
model for the docks. It has
excellent cab ergonomics for
driver comfort, high ground
clearance and larger super
elastic tyres for smooth
operation on any uneven
surfaces. The forks are fitted
with side shift loading lorries
for delivery. More articles from Combilift Limited: |
