Longer load handling capability
December 1st 2008

Abbey Stainless Steel recently expanded its range of services and moved to new premises where the handling and storage of raw materials is now based around the capabilities of two specialist 8t Combilift 4-way forklifts, which handle larger product, increasing business opportunities.

Combilifts range from 2.5t to 14t capacity and are available with a wide level of customisation. In this case, there were advantages to be had by choosing larger trucks: longer materials could be handled, enabling bigger jobs to be taken on.

The first truck was an 8t capacity, diesel powered unit with a slightly shorter than standard deck to fit in the 2.7m aisle-widths already in place.

The reported benefits were immediate: this truck easily copes with 4m long bars weighing up to 8t, which previously had to be sawn before they could be lifted by the lighter-weight counterbalance trucks that had been used previously.
